You will wonder at times how she knew about you and a particular significant other because she seems to describe you and the relationship to a T. And, when you read the last page you will wish you had read it years and a number of relationships earlier.

I have read other books on this topic which spoke to me... This book, which I got in the Kindle version, pulled it all together for me--the biology, personal values, self identity, the human quest for belonging and intimacy. The book... brought to me great understanding. I wish I had ordered the paper version with the workbook. I ended up going back and ordering it.

7 Things You Can Do To Start The Year Out Right

Now that the New Year is officially underway, I'd like to offer some suggestions on how you can make a fresh start with your loved ones. No matter what has transpired in the past year—good , bad and indifferent—2014 offers you the opportunity to create new ways of relating that promises to bring you closer. Here's a list of 7 things you can start doing today.

  1. Forgive all past mistakes. Make a pledge to let the past stay in the past. Whatever your loved ones have done, let it go. If someone is still in your life, then you have chosen to keep this person in your life for a reason. If you've chosen to keep this person in your life, then wipe the slate clean.
  2. Look for what your mate does right and let him know - every day. It doesn't have to be anything big—even the small things count.
  3. Walk hand in hand or arm in arm when you are walking out in public. Be sweethearts. Do this even if you haven't walked hand in hand for years. Start now.
  4. Start and end each day with an "I love you" and a hug and kiss. Say it like you mean it even if you've had a tough day. Reminding yourselves that having each other is more important than having an attitude will go a long way toward lasting happiness.
  5. Do something that has meaning to your loved one at least once a week. For example, if your mate likes fresh cut flowers, bring some home. If your partner likes to go for long bike rides, make it happen. Demonstrating your understanding of who your partner is, what pleases him or her, and acting accordingly, is the gift that keeps on giving.
  6. Have fun together and laugh. Studies show that if two people are engaged in an activity together that raises their endorphins, they correlate that feel good hormone with each other. So get your adrenaline flowing, heart rate pumping, and laughter bellowing. Your relationship will benefit as well as your body, mind and soul.
  7. Commit to being a better communicator. Communication is at the core of strong and intimate relationships. Work on understanding yourself, communicating your thoughts and feelings, and asking for what you need in a respectful manner. And most of all, be a good listener!

Here's to a year filled with love and self-discovery!
